First of all, and maybe this is just me, but when I see a Vette I think "mid-life crisis car". Maybe it's because my dad got his during his mid-life crisis, but it's also because whenever I see another Vette, 95% of the time, it's a 40+ year old man driving it. I've driven it before, and it just doesn't seem appropriate for someone my age (21), and IMO, it doesn't seem appropriate for anyone but the aforementioned group.
Second, the handling is very responsive, but I think it's a little off. My dad has also complained about it. When's hes opened it up going around a turn (turning on to an on-ramp for instance), the car doesn't just go where it's pointed. It doesn't even push through a slide smoothly. The rear end kind of bounces through the turn. Maybe some Greg Dupree sub-frame spacers are needed =).
Anyway, you're right about the power of the V8 though. It is incredible. My dad has a Borla exhaust on his, and the sound is awesome. The brakes are also very strong, like you said. All that being said, if I had the money, I still wouldn't get one. I'd dump it into my Z and eat Z06's for lunch.
